The Digital Revolution at the Service of Art at the National Museum of China

Recently, visitors to the National Museum of China had the opportunity to (re)discover a true Baroque masterpiece, The Penitent Magdalene by the artist Artemisia Gentileschi, thanks to nüme’s imaging technology.

Through a captivating film showcased at the heart of the exhibition, nüme presented an advanced digitization of the artwork. This film highlights essential elements of the composition, such as Magdalene’s emotion-filled face and her hands, whose execution evokes the mastery of Caravaggio’s Magdalene in Ecstasy. It also reveals, with unprecedented precision, details invisible to the naked eye, such as cracks in the painting’s surface and the subtle nuances of the artist’s brushstrokes.

The exhibition will run in Beijing until March 2025.
